A message from John Manson, Beach Bocce Ball President
Our hearts are shattered to share the news that Pat Maldi, everyone’s favorite, has passed on to a better place.

Following bocce last year, Pat found out that she would start her battle with cancer. She fought hard, but she was freed from the fight while surrounded by her family.

To say Pat was a blessing not only to bocce, but to every person that has ever walked the beach or Boys and Girls Club, is an understatement. Pat was the rock of Vigilucci’s World Beach Bocce Ball Tournament. She was the first person people looked for on the beach, “where’s Pat?”, she had an answer for everything and served with a smile. As you can imagine, we are picking up some pieces and holding some things together at the moment. Bocce will go on, but not this year. She’s probably looking down at us really pissed that we are announcing this…sorry Pat!

BOCCE WILL RETURN (TO NORTH COUNTY) IN 2026

We will take this year off to regroup, memorialize Pat and we will bring back the tournament bigger, better and stronger than ever! We’re going to show Pat how forces come together and do BIG THINGS in her name…and we mean BIG THINGS! We already see her working her magic from up above in coordinating bocce’s comeback in 2026.

We will share the details of the 2026 Bocce event as soon as they come to fruition.

We will miss you Pat, you were the true favorite.

Please send an email to john@beach-bocce.com with your choice prior to August 31st.

If an email is not received, your registration will automatically be transferred to the 2026 World Beach Bocce Ball Tournament.
